Thermopolis -2 June 18 2010
Such a neat place requires another post. The geologic aura of this place is fantastic. Major geologic changes so close... some changes in just a few miles. Thats Bighorn Canyon /Bighorn River terminus ...out of the mountains into Thermopolis & the plains.
"Wedding of the Waters" = the only place in the US where a river changes name Mid-Stream into the "Wind River". 2,000' high canyon walls & there are trout in the river & fished some.
Hot springs are a gift of the Shoshone tribe. 100 years ago when a treaty stole their land... the Shoshone reserved 25% of the hot springs for the public. No charge for the hot springs healing waters. THANK YOU Shoshone !!! These native American tribes really loved and respected the land and its fruits. Thank you for preserving this wonder for all visitors. Your leadership and vision is noted andd respected by many.
