rain overnight. dreary. sleep in. 40* am coffee. Down to scout out Little Hole, then to Dutch John. Ken
@ "Trout creek flies" nice shop but.... WE don't need no Stinkin' guide!!! Get fishing license and head out.
1/2 mi below dam trout fishing on Green River.. River IS green-- from the moss
ectt... & it IS cold! Tall 600' canyon. tall pines, pinyon pines. Red rock strata; breathtakingly beautiful!

T-bone catches
5 trout, releases a couple small ones . me 1 small. Now here;s the deal... there is no room in the monkey wagon for long rods n reels. so T-bone gets a couple of Rons "pocket fisherman" for the trip. ?Don't you love pitchman Ron? . I honestly figured I wouldn't really catch any fish unless they were blind and deaf; I just wanted to be able to tell Nephews and a few buddies that I'd trout fished the Green River / Yellowstone River ect... So .. I rig up a fly w/ about a 3' leader, red and white float bobber-- to see in the currents-- and for a little weight to throw out for distance... and say go get 'em. T-bone knocks 'em dead and catches the limit in a couple hours.

Now when T-bone catches a Trout... everybody w/in 1/2 mile knows about it. For several of the avid fly fishers there ... the guys who take Fly fishing for Trout as a Hobby / Mental Illness... the guys that have the waders, the jackets, the hats, the Titanium zircon Lazer level magnum Rods.... ... the guys that have $5,000 of equipment to Trout fish... are coming over to see what T-bone is fishing w/ ; a $10 popiel rod and a fly off of the discount table. Go figure. Thank you Ron; you did good w/ the pocket fisher!
There would be more pictures, but every time one of the fly fishing guys goes by in their $5,000 sport fishing outfit I have to stop and guffaw. Sometimes double guffaw. occasionaly.... like when spotting a fisher w/ his "net" for his catch.... .... a point and guffaw is in order. Make sure you understand here... our Tackle box was a wal-mart bag w/ $10 of hooks, bobbers, and flies. ...And a box of Cheez-its. Gratuitus Guffaw. ... and if they hauled their river boat -- which cost ~ $ 10k ? .... even the Trout guffaw.
I think the idea is to get a hook in the water and enjoy the outdoors... enjoy the day... enjoy the ride of the day ; nobody had more fun than us w/ our $20 rod and tackle!
Also, to carry / store pocket fisher in the small rv when traveling.... they stored --get ready for this-- inside of a #2, 2lb round Quaker Oats container under the seat ; How about a round of guffaw for the house please.
Out to Mustang ridge & fish hour on lake. T-bone again.. 2
