Vernal, Utah to Rock Springs, Wyoming 1st post on this drive
Lower end of hwy 530
Leaving Vernal after supply run... This leg will take us up into some remote areas of Wyoming ... the Rockies and Bighorn mountains. skirting flaming Gorge by driving up the west side of the reservoir on hwy 530. Beautiful drive through the desolate high plains of Wyoming. The geolocical changes in mountain / rock strata formations are amazing
Flaming Gorge IS the Green River & the dam backs up 40 miles of water resources this region needs to store.
Right after the last picture which is STILL Flaming Gorge reservoir.... Turned out to drive the Sheep Creek geological loop -- Scenic BACKWAY ... Wow!!! (see Sheep Creek Post) -- when completed
