After passing Flaming Gorge hwy 530n -- on the west side of the reservoir heading north-- The drive and scenery is beautiful. Amazing geological variations. ... plains to snowcapped mountains... and then you come to Sheep Creek Geological Loop. I had to see what this is about.
Stopped at a picnic area for a samich & headed out. This is a designated Scenic "BACKWAY" .... it's even off the backroads of a scenic byway. and went to dirt roads in places.
www.byways.org is a good place if you like to drive scenic road trips.
Sheep Creek ... Amazing. I thought the rock formations on hwy 530 were good... these are really good. Some Flatiron formations in places. This took about an hour...+ then resume on hwy 530 heading north.
