Lander to Boysen Reservoir Wyoming

Lander, Wy to Boysen reservoir st pk ...

June 17, 2010

Actually heading to Thermopolis via hwy 789 but this post goes only to Boysen reservoir st pk. A few miles past Boysen, The Wind River Canyon was so phenomenal it requires its own journal/ post .

A couple of quick stops in Lander. Didn't do much in town, the main thing we saw was Sinks Canyon -- see Sinks Canyon post-- Beautiful heading out through the central Wyoming high plains. You see the real ranchers out here. At Riverton start following the Wind River beside / along the road. A lot of Wyoming ranches. Geology is still amazing to see the changes so quick... just a few miles in between major changes.

Boysen reservoir looked like "desert". A couple people said fishing was fairly good there. Several boats were there out in the deep water to fish. Wind was 25 to 30 gust to 40. The wind on the plains is something else.
