Redmond heading south on 97
Can see mountain formation... prominent rock peak to the Left / east. turns out to be Smith Rock st pk. Smith Rock is a Rock Climbers heaven. and there are some climbing classes/ training going on on a couple of smaller practice rock walls.
Smith rock has been the background for some western movies. ... for the original Rooster Cogburn scenes.
Same Crooked River
The Canyon base is formed by the erosion of the Crooked River... & of course had to wade in for a few minutes. Same Crooked River that cut the canyon under the Ogden Bridge , Hwy & RR bridges crossed a day earlier. See "Tres Bridges" post
