Camptown Ladies, Butte, Montana

ITW 71 / 72

2010

Butte , Montana

De Camptown ladies sing dis song -- Doo-dah! doo-dah!

De Camptown racetrack five miles long -- Oh! doo-dah day!

Getting ready to head out back west and I have to post this journal as way overdue.

At Butte , Montana... stumbled onto the National Folk Festival. It was Great!!!

All the musical talent performing on stage was wonderful. At the bus stop to the festival, stumbled onto these performers / artists / musicians.... and am absolutely stunned at their originality/ Things went so fast that I didn't get their real / true name/// was the Jackson rivers players or something.... Their act / schick was of old 1850s mining camp,... mining town musicians playing old camp songs for entertainment.

I could see a mining camp of tents with amakeshift stage, snagletoothed miners in the audience with their worn over hats,... cheering and hooting to mining camp entertainment.... These guys were it. ... And the audience of gold miners fired their guns in the air as a sign of approval.

These guys had 1850s mining camp clothes,... bowl haircuts... looked like they haden't had a bath in weeks... and played the guitar and banjo tunes of the old west. These guys were GREAT !!!!

They were so rough they couldn't get onto the stage as an act at this music festival.... so they played as street musicians.

I had to drop a few bucks into the open fiddle case.... money well spent!
