Lunch at local cafe / bakery... GREAT BREAD!!!! buy & take some to go.
Fuel up & head up hwy 15 North to Helena.
Elk Peak 6,988' elev .... cross Continental Divide again.
Big Sky Valleys of Montana. Beautiful / scenic. Ranches,... Cattle / Hay.
Curvy / winding road. ... big cut & fills on road. Small river along vally / road. Roads in Montana follow canyon/ valleys as moutain ranges / peaks are extremely steep and high & hard to build roads / traverse on.
Deerlodge nat forest.Elk Horn Mountains... Hay Stack Mountain 8,821' elev
Onto Boulder , Montana small town ... & visit RADON health mine. reminds me of route 66 stuff. I thought Radon was bad for you... ?they sell radon detectors at depot. Purple sign.... inside the pitch was .... abandon mine shaft 85' down below...people sit in mine(for a price/ cost).... and breath Radon gasses in mine-- for autoimmune diseases.
Ok... I bit.... took the elevator down & walked couple hundred feet 400 ft length & sure enough. people sitting, reading, playing chess... getting "cured". Cool... 40- 45*
For me... it was a real Twilight Zone Moment.
upside talked a minute w/ a couple of patrons that swore they were better. They come every year from CA.

Capitol Building-- Outstanding, Also see Capitol building Helena post -when completed. Really magnificent building. Opulent inside.Montana ; The Treasure State !
Late aft hwy 287 east / 284 north to Canyon Ferry Riverside camp #1 . neat place on Missouri River. flowing North here. wind to 40+
