Missoula Montana to Kalispell Montana
Up early. coffee & thanked AJ & Joanne for their hospitality-- good folks! Real class! Met these friends at the Samboree in Butte, MT. -- also see Butte, MT posts--
Head out ... big hill overlooking Missoula-- big white " M " done w/ rocks for University of Montana.
Hwy 93 north ... into Mission Mountains.
Enter Flathead Reservation Land / territory.
on up beautiful valley, mountains on east side.
St. Ignatios Mission ... ... valley history tied to mission established ---
Onto rolling hills , grassland prarie..... it's the National Bison Range. Pretty rolling hills / mountans & grassland.
continue North, 0n Right / east McDonald Peak 9,820' elev.
Onto Roman ,... Pablo, Montana ... lower in valley 88*
take " Y " hwy 35 & go up East side of Flathead Lake... WOW beautiful lake. trees by road so only glimpses.
Findly point st pk -- Full onto yellow bay... marina crowded-- full too.
On up 35 east side Flathead lake.... Cherrys are RIPE !!! Cherry orchards line the road. family farms w/ roadfront fruit stands. 1 lb of huge #1 Large Ripe-- picked 3 hours ago... $1.50 going through Cherries tase wonderful & are good to snack on. going through two lbs a day.
Get to North end of Flathead Lake... walk around some & wade in lake. Summer tourist town.
onto Kalispell, MT in eve.... excitement up. Have made it to Glacier; it's near. you can feel it. you can see it. terrain has changed to forested mountainous region.
