You know your lifestyle has changed when Hot Showers can alter your day. ... like
stopping at 2pm in the aft -- stop everything... don't pass go, don't collect $$, because there are clean showers, in a clean bathhouse.... w/ HOT water.
Some hygiene is simple. brush teeth-- go out in your backyard & brush; no problem. guys, to shave... get the hose pipe & shave. Not that simple in 40* & 15mph wind.
On the Road -- Hygiene
Some state parks have pay showers. $1 for 4 min & it's beat the clock... it's
like taking a shipboard shower in Navy/Marine Corps. Sometimes it's just lukewarm water. Marine Corps experience is a real bonus doing this as you learn to improvise quickly, & kinda half gypsy attitude. Washed w/ a creek bath in the river at Wolf Creek.
The dry air / low humidity dries out your feet & the skin & heels cracks... so use vicks vaor rub on your feet to seal in moisture & the camphor heals. There is LOW humidity-- last week saw the humidity at 8% -- and it's up in the High Plains & Rockies... usually 6 to 8,000' elev. Sometimes 9 to 10,000' elev so the air is really thin and dry; dry skin cracks on hands & feet.
Eating is more on the run unless you make time for certain meals & a lot more
ready food like fruit / apples ect from local stands & farmers. not as much snacking on junk food. Haven't been on a scale since gone but guess I'm -20 judging from the belt loops tightened.
